Uphill Group Cultivation Monthly Calendar

The 'Uphill Group Cultivation Monthly Calendar' listed here is for reference relating to uphill group cultivation activities only. Due to limited space within the monthly calendar, all details cannot be fully listed.

Other activities dates, such as dharma events on various Buddha and Bodhisattva festivals, intone precepts on the 1st and 15th of lunar month etc., are arranged in accordance with the current ‘Basic Guidelines for uphill Palace Hall and downhill Centre’.

At present, most aspects within the 'Guidelines' have room for improvement. Hence going forward, it will be continuously revised according to different timescales/festivals/causes/ links, needs at different situations. However, the ‘Guidelines’ must be finalised in compliance with Rinpoche’s verbal instructions.

Notes:
Although the number of times and uphill group cultivation dates have been set, if there is unexpected torrential rain on the date, or perhaps it is during the rainy season, one can imagine the dangers of the mountain road. Therefore, when encountering such unexpected weather conditions, in order to avoid any accidents, it is not suitable for all of you to go uphill for dharma practice. This is common sense which you must all know. You must not ignore your personal safety or the safety of all the people by strongly insisting on going uphill.

During the uphill ‘Afternoon Practice Session’, if there is a sudden change in weather conditions, so called ‘Unforeseen Storms in the Sky’(remark: it means abrupt change of weather may lead to arise a storm from a clear sky), for example, when the sky is full of dark clouds, with strong winds and imminent heavy rain, or when the roads turn too muddy after heavy rainfall (with car tyres being trapped in the mud/too slippery for tyres), or even with torrents of water rush down the mountain, all these factors can cause dangers when going downhill in the evening. Hence the management committee must have flexible countermeasures. For example, cars should be arranged in advance to escort group cultivators going downhill, let group cultivators go downhill earlier than usual in order to avoid coming across landslips, torrential flood, rolling debris, collapse of trees etc. The ‘Afternoon Practice Session’ should be changed to hold at downhill Centre.

It is inappropriate to arrange uphill group cultivation dates and dharma practice on Buddha and Bodhisattva festivals too closely together, as this will make helpers overwork. Therefore, in giving regards to them, arrangements must be made with flexibility. One must bear in mind that the number of times of going uphill of helpers may be more than group cultivation of all people, as they will be on duty at almost every uphill group cultivation or dharma event. If arrangements can be made 7 to 10 days apart, the helpers will have enough time to rest and this will not lead to overtiredness or fatigue.
