Just as hundreds of rivers channel into the ocean,
when we encounter trivial, important, or troublesome matters,
we must possess endurance and tolerance.
The ocean, without any selection at all,
accepts the flow of water from all rivers, streams, gutters …
and becomes one taste: the flavour of salt.
The ocean may comprise of all different types of water,
however, this does not affect the taste of seawater.
We, who study Buddhism,
must possess this state of mind,
to accept everything,
to resolve every matter at hand,
to finally realize the sweet taste of life and emptiness.
