Castrated Cats

Source: Internet

Not only do mice have exquisite perception, their old enemies, cats are also the same.

I once heard a real story told by the country’s famous veterinary, Doctor Du Bai.

There was a small garden near his veterinary clinic where stray cats and dogs would often gather around nearby, causing environmental pollution on the one hand and having no concept of birth control on the other hand. Thus it also caused a much tragic fate for their next generation.

Doctor Du Bai had a thought that he should apply ‘birth control surgery’ to these stray cats and dogs. In addition to treating those domestic pets at his clinic, if he could apply ‘birth control surgery’ to those stray cats and dogs a few times a week, there would be much enhancement to the environment!

Consequently, he caught a stray cat and had it done ‘birth control surgery’ before releasing it back to the park. Unexpectedly almost all the cats and dogs disappeared from the park within a week and the remaining few fled in fear as soon as they saw him.

Doctor Du Bai was very puzzled: Could it be that they all know about the little cat that was castrated?

Later, he went to another place where stray cats and dogs had gathered. All he needed to do was to have one castrated, and without fail, the rest of cats and dogs all fled within one week or two.

Doctor Du Bai came to a conclusion that cats and dogs had their own language to communicate with each other and he told me, “The cats and dogs which were castrated would have returned and might tell everyone: Nearby there is a Doctor Du Bai who specially catches cats and dogs  to have them castrated, you all must flee at once!”  The humorous Dr Du teased himself and said, “I must now have a bad reputation amongst stray cats and dogs.”

Doctor Du Bai had practised for many years and was fully aware that animals were the same as human beings, in that they had feelings and perceptions. Hence, he was most against those who abandoned pets. He said, “It is unbearable to think about the kind of heartache, disappointment and pain an animal is put through when it is abandoned.”

This deep affection he had towards animals, not only made him a famous veterinary, but also the guardian angel of stray cats and dogs in the country.

Postscript: Those who follow the Bodhisattva path only work diligently and do not  expect any reward in return; they often look after others’ best interests, yet constantly attract back chatting gossip and frivolous remarks!  Simply approach it with a ‘usual mind’.
