The Art of a Spiritual Life
Source: The Internet
I saw a prophet in my dream.
The prophet asked, “Do you have any questions?”
I asked, “What do you think is the strangest thing with humans?”
The prophet replied,
“They are bored with their childhood and want to grow up quickly, but later they long to return to youth from old.
They sacrifice their health in exchange for money, but later they sacrifice their money to restore their health.
They face the future full of anxiety, but forget about the present. Hence, they neither live in the present, nor in the future.
When they are alive, they seem to lead an immortal life, but when they die, it seems that they have never lived at all.......”
| I further asked, “As an elder, what kind of experience would you like to tell people?” | |
| The prophet smiled and said, | |
| “They ought to know, | it is impossible to please everyone. All they can do is to let oneself be loved by others. |
| They ought to know, | the most precious thing in life is not what you possess, but whom you have. |
| They ought to know, | it is not good to compare themselves with others. |
| They ought to know, | wealthy people do not possess the most. Instead, they need the least. |
| They ought to know, | it only takes a few seconds to deeply hurt the person you love, but it takes years to heal the pain. They ought to learn how to forgive other people. |
| They ought to know, | some people love them dearly, but do not know how to express their feelings. |
| They ought to know, | money can buy everything, but it cannot buy happiness. |
| They ought to know, | it is not enough to have forgiveness from other people, as they should also forgive themselves.” |
