The Preciousness of Life
Life is precious, we will definitely neither allow our lives to be spent in such an oridinary way, nor keep ourselves busy during our lifetime until the very last second, but to find that it is futile ultimately. There is a trajectory in one’s life, if one walks on the right trail, one will get better and better; if one goes astray, it will, however, be difficult for one to backtrack. Therefore, when one is choosing one’s way to deal with one’s life, it has to be done lucidly not only to avoid going in the wrong direction, but also to ensure that the summit can be reached. Every saint comes to this world with their respective missions. Their advent (the coming of each saint) is both purposeful as well as well-planned so as to demonstrate and guide one the way to climb to the highest peak in one’s infinite life (saints can reincarnate infinite times)! We have to express our gratitude to these saints who have acted as paragons to show us the trajectory of life!
Treasure one’s life and never think of abandoning it. One will encounter a lot of ordeals, torture, sufferings and frustration during the life’s growth process. However, one should not be too pessimistic as there is still room for happy, joyful period and space in between. We should absolutely never give up our own lives, but should manage to become what our Guru always mentions, ‘an ever-defeated General’ instead.
During one’s learning in the past, one invariably used to palm up what had learnt and rubbed it into a tablet without having the ability to differentiate or grasp the ‘order of priority’ precisely. In the learning of Vajrayana, when one is conformed to the learning sequence, it is just like having a staircase to ascend a building; one can see the footprints of predecessors, by following one’s Guru to proceed step by step, one’s life can thus be said to have a direction. It can be seen that a lot of senior dharma brothers who are often opinionated. They have too much of their own opinions that when they are confronted with tests or at the time when making decisions for affairs, they will always handle the matters based on their own ideas. Realizing that they are consequently back to the origin after going around a wide loop (failed to solve the matters at last), these seniors not only feel regret for what they have done, but also be very sorry for having squandered their lives. From this, the paramount importance and preciousness of ‘following the footsteps of one’s Guru’ can be remarkably evident. On the Vajrayana Road (during the learning of Vajrayana), if one’s ego-grasping is so serious that one is blocked to accept the admonition of dharma brothers (studying under the same Guru) who have possessed the right view, one’s route will thus be deviated easily or one will have to walk a longer distance. One will definitely go on a forked road (a time when one has to make a difficult decision about something) if one does not follow one’s Guru and seniors who have possessed the right view! One may even spend one’s life in vain, resulting in wasting the scarcely attainable human body as well as the precious life to no purpose!!
