A Tiger and a Cat (Part 2)
| Rinpoche knows that the meritorious virtue (Sanskrit: Sāmbhara) for cultivation or the aptitude for learning Buddhism of many disciples is of only the rating (Grade) of the cat, which is far from that of the tiger’s rank. However, they often demand certain high stages of Tantric Buddhism. It is not that Rinpoche does not impart them such knowledge, but rather, Rinpoche does not want them to learn these sorts of profound Tantric Buddhism because he knows too well that these disciples who have requested for the Dharma, will not be able to attain any correspondence in their practice. On the contrary, Rinpoche hopes that they can practise Tantric Buddhism which fits with their present stage (level) so that there is a greater certainty for them to gain tiny accomplishments instead. Nevertheless, sentient beings are inevitably influenced by their covetous thoughts. They dare to expect that they can turn into the tiger (it means the attainment of supreme achievements or becoming a Buddha) in an instant through the practice of great Dharma in a short time. Of course, every sentient being possesses Buddha Nature originally and they can all attain Buddhahood. However, one should understand that as long as the accumulated karma from the past kalpas of a sentient being is not thoroughly erased, (he/she is still in a stage that) he/she has not yet established a firm foundation for attaining achievements. Even though the disciples cultivate desperately in their practice, their effort exerted will ultimately be in vain. |
| Let’s take i-phone mobile, which is used widely at present, as an example: Though the actual situation in these latter days is not clear, when using early phase i-phone in the past, it was necessary to intrude on/uncover the restrictions on users’ operations by means of ‘jailbreak’ tool before any modification or alteration could be made. By doing so, there is a breakthrough in the limitations installed in the system-setting by the manufacturer. After the jailbreak, the user does not only have a lot more functions immediately in his/her i-phone, but also be able to read the unknown in-house scenes of i-phone. The example serves an analogy with a Tantrayana practitioner (密乘行者) who is capable of opening his/her three Nadis (the Left channel, the Central channel and the Right channel) and four Chakras (the Sacral Chakra, Heart Chakra, Throat Chakra and Crown Chakra) through cultivation of Tantric Buddhism so that he/she is able to smash his/her inherent DNA and attains achievements. Besides, the many kinds of miraculous power that are lurked in his/her body as well as brain will also be opened one after another. |
| Supposing that the DNA of a tiger embryo is rebuilt so as to turn it into a cat or the DNA of a cat embryo is rebuilt so as to turn it into a tiger, such cases have neither been found in the medical community nowadays nor in whichever scientific documentations, let alone a formed, grown up cat. How can the principles and restrictions of its (cat’s) DNA be broken automatically to become a tiger which is much bigger in body size? Or how can a tiger, whose shape is larger, be able to change its own DNA in the body and shrinks itself into a cat? It is literally a matter that is unimaginably queer and absolutely impossible to occur!
In addition, both tigers and cats belong to the animal realm, are there three Nadis and Four chakras inside their bodies? No one has ever put forward such a thesis for discussion for the time being, but in the human realm, there is definitely such a spiritual system as three Nadis and four Chakras inside their bodies. Provided that cultivation has been gone through, human beings are able to open their own nadis and chakras as well as making a breakthrough in their DNA so that they are capable of possessing the inconceivably ultra-strong spiritual power. Ancient people liberated their lurked miraculous power by means of cultivating Samadhi Meditation whereas it is through the practice of Tantrayana to open one’s nadis and chakras in modern times. In simple terms, if a practitioner can open the DNA of longevity that is originally present inside one’s body, one will naturally enjoy longevity; if the DNA of miraculous power is opened, one’s proficiency in miraculous power will be displayed. It is named as ‘a Superman’ in modern technology. From the point of view of Buddhism, He is called a Buddha who has attained the Five Eyes (Physical Eye, Celestial Eye, Wisdom Eye, Dharma Eye and Buddha Eye) and the Six Miraculous Powers as well as the consummation of Wisdom. |
| To turn a cat into a tiger, or a tiger into a man, or a cat into a man, the probability of such possibilities is nearly zero. However, it is possible to change a man into another man. Before the attainment of Buddhahood, the Buddha was a human. As a man and a human are of the same species, it sounds possible for a man to become a Buddha as long as the locked mysterious combination of DNA can be undone. Since all of us are in possession of a human body, it is therefore possible for a disciple (who have engaged in practice diligently) to break through his/her own DNA and practise to gain the same Attainments as his/her Realized Guru. Furthermore, human beings can also have a breakthrough of their DNAs and become Buddhas. Judging from this, it is very precious to have possessed the living body of a human being!
A disciple asked, “I’ve practised for thirty years but why is it that I’m still unable to achieve the standard (attainment) of Rinpoche thirty years ago?” |
| Later, prompted by the occasion, the senior disciple consulted Rinpoche on the matter and Rinpoche said, “You’ve already managed to associate to such a point! From the scientific point of view, Buddha Sakyamuni had experienced a breakthrough of the DNA in His body during His Dhyana (Samadhi Meditation) and this revealed the highly concealed intelligence of human beings which then united with the Cosmic Intelligence that enabled Him to become the most intelligent man. That’s precisely what a ‘Buddha’ is! I’ve not yet attained Buddhahood in this life. Even though I’ve possessed the genes of humans and Sakka, the World Honoured One did also possess the genes of humans. Yet, the ones I have are still different from that of the Buddha’s. In other words, I’ve not yet had the one set, ten sets, hundred sets or even thousand sets of the most important genetic factors that the Buddha had ever possessed which are the keys to the attainment of Buddhahood!”
Perhaps we can be able to get rid of (bondages like) greed, hatred, ignorance, jealousy as well as pride in our practices. However, we lack the inconceivable Iddhividha (神變) of the Buddha ! Hence, it takes 5.67 billion years in between before the arrival of the future (coming) Buddha, Maitreya Bodhisattva who will also attain Buddhahood through cultivation practice with a human body. Maybe it needs a time as long as 5.67 billion years after the Nirvana of Buddha Sakyamuni for a ‘shuffle’ effect in humans’ genes to emerge and take place so that the unfavourable ones are washed away and removed while the good ones are retained to make up the possession of a perfect and supremely good (in which at least the thirty-two major physical characteristics (三十二相) and eighty secondary ones (八十種好) of a Buddha’s reward-body are shown) body. After that, cultivation is practised until there is a breakthrough in this person’s gene pool that makes him become a ‘Superman’, that is, attains Buddhahood! Therefore, Buddhas are so rare as well as scarce that it is really hard to come by! |
